Your TASOK Journey: Roles, Rewards & Community

Living in Kinshasa

Mbote – Welcome to Kinshasa and TASOK

A unique setting in the heart of the DRC

Set on a beautiful 42-acre forested campus in Kinshasa, TASOK is a warm, inclusive, and learning-focused international community. Founded in 1961, the school serves expatriate families and is accredited by MSA, a CIS member, and supported by the U.S. State Department Office of Overseas Schools.

TASOK is a fully authorized IB World School offering the PYP, MYP, and DP — committed to high-quality, challenging, and globally minded education. Our unique setting enhances outdoor learning, service engagement, and real-world skill-building, all within an inclusive environment that fosters critical thinking and growth.

🏡 A Home in the Heart of Nature

TASOK’s 42-acre forested campus is one of the most beautiful spaces in Kinshasa — home to a botanical garden, outdoor learning trails, and abundant birdlife.
Staff housing is fully covered by the school, with furnished duplexes and four-plexes just off-campus. Utilities are included, and the residential setting fosters a relaxed, social, and supportive lifestyle.

🏠 Life on Campus and in the Community

The TASOK campus includes 24/7 generator backup, emergency water systems in every building, and a botanical garden with an educational trail and outdoor learning spaces. Teachers live in school-provided duplexes or four-plex apartments, with utilities fully covered. Housing is close to campus, making for a relaxed, informal, and social community life.

🚗 Getting Around the City

While Kinshasa is not a walking city, TASOK provides shared vehicles for staff. Each teacher receives 50 km of free monthly use, and staff often coordinate with one another for errands and outings. Scenic walks and runs along the Congo River are popular among residents. There is also the option to use Yango (the Uber version of Kinshasa), Jackson Taxi and Jeffries Travel
