Learning in the Diploma Program

Academic Challenge

Students engage deeply with six subjects across Languages, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. This balanced curriculum encourages both specialization and breadth, building critical thinking, academic confidence, and a strong foundation for university and beyond.

International Mindedness

The DP nurtures global citizenship by challenging students to explore diverse perspectives, ethical dilemmas, and complex global issues. Through inquiry and reflection, students develop empathy, cultural understanding, and a lifelong commitment to making a positive difference.

Extended Essay (EE)

Each student undertakes an independent research project on a topic of personal interest, culminating in a 4,000-word academic paper. This experience builds essential skills in inquiry, writing, critical analysis, and academic independence—ideal preparation for higher education.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Students explore how knowledge is constructed, evaluated, and shared across different fields and cultures. TOK encourages critical thinking, self-awareness, and intellectual curiosity, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it.

Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS)

Through artistic expression, physical activity, and community service, students grow into well-rounded individuals. CAS promotes balance, resilience, and compassion, encouraging students to connect learning with real-world impact and personal growth.

University Counseling

Beginning in Grade 11, students benefit from individualized university and career guidance throughout the DP journey. Counselors support students in identifying pathways, preparing strong applications, and navigating the transition from TASOK to higher education.
