After School Activities

School doesn’t really stop at TASOK at 2:30. It just shifts gears – not up or down really, but sideways.

During the school day TASOK is a place of engaged student learning in a school setting. High school and middle school students move from math to science class, elementary students attend to the current themes, kids have recess, go to lunch, go back for class and complete this part of the day at 2:30.

At 2:30 something special happens and it happens in a very unique way here at TASOK. At 2:30 students have the opportunity to sign for elective activities of their own choosing – and oh what a list of activities! From Model UN to Basketball to After School Literature to Soccer to Drama to Softball to Arabic language to Debate Society to Botanical Gardens; the list goes on and on. It is hard to imagine, with the wealth wholesome activities offered, that every TASOK student is able to choose and participate in an activity to challenge both his/her mind and body. In a city as complex as Kinshasa, the activity program here at TASOK is critical for the well being of our students. For most, it is the only wholesome option for things to do after school. It is another testament to the professionalism, dedication, and commitment to students that the faculty of TASOK collaborates to offer this program to students. I encourage each and every family, as you talk together in the evenings, to, in addition to talking about the up-until-2:30, academic part of the school day, also to have a little conversation about the after school activity program. You may be surprised!
